Judith Smith

Judith Smith, 77, of West Windsor passed away on January 11, 2024 at the Parker at Monroe nursing facility after a courageous battle with ALS.

She was a lifelong Mercer County resident, having grown up in Trenton, raising her family in Lawrence, and enjoying retirement in West Windsor. After graduating from Trenton Central High School, she obtained her bachelor’s and master’sdegrees in nursing. She pursued her passion for nursing first at the Greenwood House nursing home, and then as the school nurse at Lawrence Intermediate School for most of her career.

Judi was first and foremost a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, and attending as many of her grandchildren’s activities as she could. She enjoyed her cats, playing Mahjong, and spending time with her many groups of friends. After retirement, she and Sandy enjoyed their summers on the beach in Wildwood Crest. They traveled to over thirty countries on five continents, collecting memories and souvenirs along the way.

Daughter of the late William Jr. and Margaret Pfaff, and sister of the late Joseph Pfaff, she is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years Stanley “Sandy” Smith, and her brother William Pfaff III.  She is also survived by her four sons Jared, Eric, and Aaron Smith, and Leonard Drumetski, six grandchildren Anya and Kaya Smith, Emily and Aubrey Smith, and Fiona and Leonard Drumetski Jr., and daughters in law Traci, Patricia, and Kristin Smith, and Sharon Drumetski.

Judi was greatly loved and admired on earth, and heaven just received a great nurse.

Her life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Saturday, January 27th at 3pm at the Princeton Abbey, located at 75 Mapleton Road, Princeton NJ.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to an ALS foundation.

I want to extend my Sympathy to Sandy & family on Judy’s untimely passing from this horrible disease. It is a shame that it took such a beautiful person. My memories of her & Sandy go back to the 1970’s on Chambers Street & the Smith – Peltin families. She was such a Beautiful person. Heaven gained a special Nurse.

I met Judi and Sandy at Ocean Place two years ago. We shared many conversations about our shared nursing careers and love of a good read. Judi and Sandy were great people who participated in our many social engagements. We shared a bird watching trip. She and Sandy had great restaurant recommendations and I loved hearing her stories about her travels. Taken too soon and sorely missed by many. RIP my friend

Judi and Sandy were great supporters of the Ocean Place community by actively participating in the Condo Meetings and sharing ideas to improve the community. Judi was a very open and kind lady. She was The First owner to compliment the efforts made by the Owners Committee, who led the residential hallway renovations. She was a grateful, supportive and happy neighbor for decades, who will be dearly missed.

Sincere condolences. May you hold dear memories close to your hearts. I remember Judi as my son, Daniel {Danny} Abramovich and Eric were in classes together in the Lawrence Public Schools.
