Daniel “Dan” W. McMullen, 75, a longtime resident of Lambertville, NJ, passed away on August 13, 2026.
Born December 12, 1950, in Brooklyn, NY, he was one of three sons of the late Grace and Wesley McMullen. Dan was raised in South Brunswick, NJ, where he lived until attending Trenton State College, where he earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He went on to dedicate his career to education, first as a teacher and counselor of children with special needs and later as the principal of a special education high school in Westfield, NJ, where he spent the majority of his career.
Dan was a beloved member of the Lambertville community, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, as well as a devoted animal lover, an avid golfer and enthusiastic Tractor Supply shopper. He had a wonderfully whimsical sense of humor and a lifelong love of reading.
He was fascinated by woodworking, even if his ambitions to pursue it often exceeded the time he actually spent doing it. He was also a talented artist who had a particular gift for drawing caricatures.
Of the many accomplishments of his well-loved life, Dan considered his ability to help children who were less fortunate to be among his greatest achievements. His compassion for his students and his commitment to giving them opportunities remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.
Dan is survived by his wife of 43 years, Michelle Pitt-McMullen; his son, Paul McMullen; his older brother, Craig McMullen; and his nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 19, at 1:00 p.m. at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel in Ewing, NJ. Burial will follow at Ewing Cemtery.
