Zoë Mae Levinson, of Lawrenceville, NJ, passed away tragically on June 15, 2023 at the age of 30.
People who misjudged the hurdles she faced as stupidity did so at their own peril. One example: when she was young, she wanted to know why her favorite indoor play place and the local Kmart were closing. A quick study, she quickly came to grasp the details of U.S. bankruptcy code, and was able to repeat them to others.
When she was even younger, she happened on a face-painting event in a shopping mall. Her Dad told her she would have to wait patiently for her turn. She waited without question for what seemed an eternity.
“What animal do you want?,” the painter asked.
“A giraffe!,” she answered.
“How about a tiger?,” the woman suggested, clearly at a loss.
Zoë insisted on a giraffe.
She got a giraffe. At least that’s what they called it.
School was often a source of great pain and frustration due to her social difficulties. But when she finally was able to attend the Collier School in Morganville, she rode the bus three hours a day without complaint. It was never a problem to get her up and out the door.
She is survived by her parents, Robin Levinson and Larry Levinson, and a brother, Aaron Levinson.
Funeral services are Monday, June 19, at 10:00 am at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ. Burial will follow at Ewing Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arm in Arm (arminarm.org/) or to NAR-ANON (www.nar-anon.org/) or to the Trenton Rescue Mission (98 Carroll St, Trenton, NJ 08609.)

Dear Robin,
I was very sorry to learn about Zoë. I recall meeting her a few times in her younger years, when she seemed less troubled by the difficulties she’d later face. I hope that memories of gentler times will help bring some comfort to you and your family as you deal with this terrible loss.
With my sympathies,
Denise
My sincere condolences to you and yours Robin. I know exactly how you feel. It was just seven months ago that we were having this exact same conversation when my nephew passed under similar circumstances. I have never met Zoe, but I feel I know her a little from our conversations over the years. Despite her issues in life, she is at peace now and her pain is gone.
Larry, Robin, and Aaron: We so sorry for your loss. We wish you strength and perseverance.
