Sudi Anne Solomon
1954 – 2026
Sudi Anne Solomon was born July 25, 1954 and passed away peacefully 3 days after her 72nd birthday, with those who loved her most by her side. She filled her life to the brim.
She was born in New Brunswick, NJ to Daniel and Florence Solomon and grew up in Highland Park, surrounded by many close cousins. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Emory University before earning her Masters of Social Work from Rutgers University. She briefly worked for the Middlesex County Office of Social Services before returning to Rutgers University to earn her law degree. She proudly spent 30 years as a Deputy Attorney General working with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. She was bright and accomplished, but more than that, she was kind.
She liked people and people liked her. She made friends everywhere she went, always chatting easily with strangers, and lit up every room she was in with her smile, warm laugh, and sense of fun. She found a source of connection with everyone she encountered. She remembered every birthday, supported friends in need, and made everyone feel like they were her best friend. People were drawn to her for her compassion, her humor, her remarkable ability to find and spread joy in every moment, and her homemade cookie cakes and chocolate-covered pretzels.
Her true passion was gardening, and she was gifted with the greenest of thumbs. She achieved certification as a NJ Master Gardener and spent many pleasure-filled moments creating the beautiful gardens and yard that now surround her house. She loved being active and was an avid yoga practitioner and swam a mile a day into her 70s. She was a lifelong vegetarian and devoted to many progressive social causes. She also loved to travel – biking through Europe in her youth, studying French in France, and visiting over 50 National Parks and Historic sites with her favorite travel partner, Marty.
She was a devoted mother and her two children, Zach and Emma, were the joys of her life. She raised them to be loving, curious, and grounded people, and she took tremendous pride in not only their accomplishments, but also their decency.
She found beauty in life – in the natural world, in people, and in relationships, and in doing so created a beautiful life for herself and those around her. She will be missed by all who knew her, but we are better for having shared in her light. She is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Morey Solomon. She is survived by her best friend and beloved husband of 38 years, Marty Rosen, her two children, Zach (Harumi) Rosen and Emma (Will) Rosen, her sister Mindy (Brian) Johnston, and innumerable friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on July 30th, 2026 at Congregation Beth Chaim in West Windsor, NJ, followed immediately by internment at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ.
