Steven F Korostoff, of Hamilton, New Jersey, passed away at the age of 66 on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 after a tireless battle with early-onset dementia.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, his children, Melissa Sandler, Matthew Korostoff and wife Stephanie Chao, Jenny Araujo and husband Mick Araujo, Sarah Mariano and husband Matt Mariano, and his grandchildren Eviana Sandler, Myles Sandler, and Samantha Araujo.
Steven was born on November 18, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York. Steven graduated Sheepshead Bay High School in 1973 and went on to attend SUNY Stonybrook for his undergraduate degree, where he met his wife, Stephanie. During this time, he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s most prestigious honor society, for his academic excellence. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from The University of Pennsylvania Law School. Steven began his legal career at the Department of Energy in Washington DC and then went on to The Securities and Exchange Commission before transferring to the New York Stock Exchange/FINRA, where he remained until his retirement in 2015.
Steven is predeceased by his parents Morris and Celia Korostoff, as well as his sister, Susan Korostoff.

Funeral services and burial are 12:30 PM on Thursday, March 10 at Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Avenue, Hamilton, NJ.

You could always count on him to be a friend and help you out. He was my favorite cousin, and will be missed a lot. May his memory be a blessing. I was privileged know him since 7th grade. Best man at my wedding. He truly made the world a better place. My wonderful memories of him will live on always.

I am shocked to hear this terrible news. I was married to his sister Susan for 13 years until her untimely passing in 1995 and during that time we were in frequent contact on family occasions including his marriage to Stephanie and the births of his four children. I admired his intelligence, work ethic, sense of humor and, most importantly, devotion to his family. He will now join Susan in heaven.

I met Steve when we roomed together at Stony Brook. He was one of the kindest and most sympathetic people I’ve ever met, intellectually gifted with an infectious laugh I’ll remember always!! He will be severely missed by all.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Steve’s passing. Steve and I were roommates during law school and remained good friends while he lived and worked in Washington, DC. While we lost touch after he moved to New Jersey, I will always remember Steve for his warmth and genuiness, his special relationship with Stephanie and his love of family, and for his gregarious and fun-loving sense of humor and personality. He was a true “mensch” in every sense of the word and will be missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing him.

Such devastating news. Steven was my dad’s favorite cousin. He was an exceptionally sweet human and I am so incredibly sad to hear this. I want very badly to come up there for the funeral and be with everyone, but I have too many life obligations preventing me from being able to go right now.
