Rita Cohen of Monroe Township passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021. She was 89 years old.

Raised in Massachusetts, she moved to Georgia when she married. She moved to Englewood, NJ to raise her children and later relocated to Monroe Township, NJ.

Rita was a passionate supporter of civil rights. She enjoyed knitting, reading, debating and studying Torah. She was a member of Beth El Synagogue in East Windsor and became an adult bat mitzvah at age 60. She was a passionate support of the state of Israel and was a volunteer with SAR-EL.

Rita was predeceased by her daughter Shelley Cohen. She is survived by a son, Stuart Cohen, a daughter and son-in-law, Jerri and Robert Blitzer, a brother, Sherman Palan. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Laney Landsman, Risa Roy, Monica Blitzer, Stephanie Blitzer, and four great grandchildren, Dylan, Oliva, Jordyn and Marley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Beth El Synagogue, Jewish National Fund, Camp Tel Yehudah, or Agahozo Shalom Youth Village.
