Marcia Caron Rabinowitz of Lawrenceville died Saturday September 26. Marcia was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1942 to Sylvia and Benjamin Rabinowitz. The middle of three children, she was predeceased by her brother, Alvin, and is survived by her sister, Cheryl. She is also survived by her children, Belinda, Felicia, and Jeffrey, and by her six grandchildren, Zachary, Noah, Aiden, Mason, Zara, and Eli.
A retired florist, Marcia was a gifted craftsperson, jeweler, bead artist, and knitter. Her creative and innovative designs were sold at craft fairs throughout New Jersey and were given as gifts to many of her friends and loved ones, who will always treasure them. She lived for a time in Sarasota, Florida, where she enjoyed the beach, one of her favorite places.
Marcia was an avid mahjong player who taught the game to many, including at the Princeton Adult School. She attended Golden Years at Adath Israel Congregation in Lawrenceville, where she served as secretary.
Marcia was a natural teacher, showing her care and concern for others by offering advice, resources, and guidance to all. A devoted bird mom, Marcia once had eight birds in her flock. She participated in many bird chat rooms, offering tips and coaching to bird lovers and bird parents across the country and around the world. She shared more than 31 years with her beautiful macaw, Faith, who survives her, and mourned the recent loss of her longtime beloved cockatoo, Saracena.
A foodie who loved Asian cuisine of all types, she shared this passion with her children and grandchildren; she was known for her delicious matzo ball soup and many other beloved recipes that appeared in her first family cookbook.
Marcia had an enduring and quiet faith in Adonai throughout her life. She was an activist who cared deeply about injustice impacting people and animals She became a volunteer to assist survivors of domestic violence, and she felt deeply for people experiencing homelessness, children facing cancer and injustice.
Services will be held Monday 1PM at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing Township. Burial will follow at with at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marcia’s memory to the American Lung Association, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or a domestic violence association.
