Born in Trenton, New Jersey she moved to Ewing Township when she was six years old and graduated from Ewing High School in 1956. She lived briefly in Vermont, before returning to Ewing to the same street she grew up on, living there until her death. She was retired from NJM. She was also a Crossing Guard for Ewing Township, as well as other local establishments.
She was a past member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Ewing, New Jersey.
Kate’s interests include watching the Washington Redskins and the Cincinnati Reds, gardening, reading John Sanford, crossword puzzles, and Canasta. She loved movies, Stalag 17, Casablana, The Ghost & Mrs Muir, Moonlighting, and Mercury Rising among her favorites. She could often be found watching an episode of Law & Order. She loved Opera with her favorites being Turandat and Madame Butterfly. Kate loved trains, stories about them or riding when she had the opportunity. Camping was a favorite, especially at Mountain Vista Campground in Stroudsburg where she enjoyed seeing the leaves change and watching the deer as they passed and at Lake in the Wood in Lancaster. She always had a love of the mountains from enjoying her grandparents cabin in Marshalls Creek.
She enjoyed learning the history on her mothers side of her ancestors relating to the Huguenot DuBois’ settling in New Paltz, New York.
For many years Kate followed Bob Smith’s Lamplighters listening to them perform many of the Big Band greats.
She maintained a lifelong friendship, which began with her original move to Ewing, with Linda & Ed Schneck, Sis & Ken Meck, Alice Mol and Pauline & Bill (both of whom we lost last year).
She loved cooking for and spending time with her family and sharing family recipes. Kate was very proud to have seen her children retire.
