Jean Voorhees

1938 – 2022

Jean A. Voorhees, 83, of Ewing Township passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
Jean was a science teacher for over 30 years, teaching first at Saint Ann Catholic School and then for many years in the Lawrence Township Public Schools. She was loved by her students and many credited her mentorship when they pursued medical professions. Jean was a nun for thirteen years in her early adulthood and she never waivered from her Catholic faith.
Known by her neighborhood as “Aunt Jean,” she was a giving and caring person to all. She was a skilled cook, and was handy like MacGyver. She had a special affection for wolves and dogs, and took great interest in the natural world and its exploration. Her text messages were always abundant with emojis and she created hand-made signs and hand-written notes for every occasion.
Jean is predeceased by her parents William and Katherine Voorhees.
She is survived by her best friend Julianne Inverso, her three godchildren Ellen Inverso (Mark Wheeler), Mark Inverso (Kathryn Rickman), and Matthew Inverso, great nephew and niece Joshua and Juliana Wheeler, her loving sister Kathleen (Joseph) Dreyer, a niece Mary-Kay (Tim) Hodge, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is also survived by her godchildrens’ pets Belladonna, Millie and Adam West.
Calling hours are Friday from 10:00am – 12:00pm (memorial service at 11:00am) at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ.
