JANIS KIND

1928 – 2022


Janis Kind (nee Lang) died on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the age of 94.  Janis was born in Trenton, NJ, the oldest child of Jerome and Shirley Lang (nee Rosen).   The family moved to Asbury Park, returning to Trenton a few years later.  Janis graduated from Trenton High School and went on to attend Douglas College.  In 1948 she married Ira J Kind (z”l), son of Claire and Leo Kind of Reid’s Jewelers in Trenton.

Janis is survived by her loving family:  her sister Leone Schulman, and her daughters Barbara Kind Berman (Howard), Linda Pedisich (Andy) and Micki Kind.  Grandmother of Cimone Kind Isard (Alex), Evan Kind Berman (Shauna) and Marlee Kind Dillon (Thomas), Simon Pedisich (Annie), Isaac Pedisich (Deb);  Great grandmother of Isabella and Nathan Berman, Sylvie and Hazel Isard and Noa and Miles Dillon.

As well as having taught English and TV production at Trenton High School for 25 years, she was also involved in many organizations.  Janis was a lifelong member of Har Sinai Temple, serving on the Executive Board as Senior VP and president of Sisterhood.  She was founder and on the steering committee for the Renaissance Group.  She was also the first inductee to the Hall of Fame at Har Sinai Temple.

Janis was charter member of both Women’s American ORT in Trenton and the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC.  She served on the boards of both the Koppleman Holocaust Center at Rider College and the Board of Women for Greenwood House.  She also served as the president of the residents’ association at Attleboro Village.

Janis was a wonderful, elegant and loving woman and will be missed by so many people.  May she rest in peace.

Funeral services were held at Har Sinai Temple, 2421 Pennington Road, Pennington, NJ, burial to follow in Ewing Cemetery.
