Irwin Zigman, CPA, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away February 14, 2024 at the age of 90.  He is survived by his wife Sheila, daughter Stephanie Will (Thomas ), son Robert Zigman (Lisa), grandchildren Michael Zigman, Justin Will and Jessica Zigman, and his older brother Harold Zigman.

Born in the Bronx, New York, he attended DeWitt Clinton High School and attended City College of New York at 16 years old.  He became an accountant and CPA.  Irwin was the first in his family to go to college, his parents both came from Europe before WWII.  He was raised in a religious Jewish home and his sense of faith, Jewish community and Philanthropy was deeply ingrained in who he was.    Irwin served on the board and later as President of South Baldwin Jewish Center, Baldwin, Long Island where he lived for over 40 years.

Irwin established his own CPA firm and practiced for over 60 years, serving many clients over the years.  Later in life his son Robert and daughter-in-law Lisa, joined in and they worked together for many years.    He utilized his abilities as a CPA to counsel his temple as Treasurer and later as President.  Later in life he was treasurer of hia B’nai Brith chapter and taught a new generation of volunteers to guide the organization going forward.

As a person, Irwin was charming, and liked by all who knew him.  He always had a kind word and a story for every situation.  He loved people and was interested and excited to meet new people throughout his life.

Most important to Irwin was his family.  His wife of 65 years, Sheila, was the love of his life and he treasured his children, their spouses and grandchildren.  Irwin always arranged for family vacations to the beach and to Atlantic City.  He loved to play games.  He loved the holidays, family parties, and get togethers.  For his 80th birthday, Irwin arranged for a sky box at Citifield and took the whole family for a grand celebration.   Irwin loved the NY METS, and going out to restaurants—especially a good steak house, but a good diner too.

Irwin will be missed by all.

Funeral services are 11:00am on Friday, February 16 at The Jewish Center of Princeton. Burial will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ.
