Irving Katz

1932 – 2023

Irving Katz, of Robbinsville, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the age of 91.

Irv was born in Kingman AZ in 1932, but grew up in West Orange NJ, attending and graduating from West Orange High School. He had an incredible talent as an artist, and attended the prestigious Cooper Union on a full art scholarship.

Irv married Susan in 1959, and started their family in their first home in Waldwick NJ. Eventually the family moved to Parsippany NJ where they remained for 38 years. After retiring Irv and Sue moved to Robbinsville NJ.

Irv worked most of his adult life at Lasky Corporation, a specialized commercial printing company based in Milburn NJ for close to 40 years, earning several promotions and eventually retiring as a Vice President and Art Director.

First and foremost, Irv was a loving husband father and family man. Despite growing up with very little means or parental guidance, Irv had a keen desire to build a better situation for his wife and children, which he certainly did. He loved to spend time with his entire family, and he enjoyed many hobbies and activities. He was a “do it yourselfer” around the house, taking on projects and fixing things all the time. He loved cars, and certainly enjoyed working  his on cars on the weekends.  He absolutely loved baseball, basketball and football, and was an avid Mets, Knicks and Giants fan.   Finally, he also had a passion for traveling all around the world with his wife Susan.

Irv was a humble and loving person, who had a very sharp wit and a timely sense of humor. He was also a man who took responsibility, and believed that hard work was the only true path to success. He was a very loyal, understanding and compassionate person.

Irving is survived by his wife Susan, a daughter and son-in-law Joanne and Jerome Naroden, and a son and daughter-in-law David and Joan Katz.  He is also survived by six loving grandchildren Jason, Ryan, and Sarah Katz; and Jessica, Jake and Ben Naroden. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Jay, who was like brother to him, along with his wife Judy, and Janine Weiss.

Funeral services and burial are Sunday, February 12 at 2:00pm, at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, NJ.
