Charles Louis Byer, 92, of Morrisville, PA, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born in Trenton, NJ to Fred and Ethel Byer on September 20, 1930. Charles attended Trenton High School and Rider College, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the war he took over his Uncle Jack Byer’s Army-Navy clothing store and in 1958 converted the store to a men’s fashion store named Byer’s Mens Shop.  In 1994, the Trenton Merchant Association honored Charles for his dedication and commitment to the city of Trenton and he was later honored by Trenton’s Mayor and The Mercer County Business Association for over 40 years of dedicated service to the City of Trenton and Mercer County. Charles retired in 1996 and handed down the business to his sons, Marc and Michael Byer.

Charles enjoyed tennis, walking and traveling.  He was also an avid sports fan, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, and loved watching all tennis tournaments.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Carole Stern Byer, his brother Irving Byer and sister Sharron Hyman, his children Beth Friedman (Alan), Marc Byer (Victoria), Cindy Weiss and Michael Byer, his grandchildren Erica Remi (Sebastian), Jeremy Friedman (Laura), Todd Friedman and Amber Weiss, great grandchildren Emma, Noah and Mia Remi and Joshua and Ari Friedman, and many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank all of the nurses and aides who cared for Charles.

Funeral services are Monday, December 5, at 10:00 AM at Adath Israel Congregation, 1958 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Burial will follow at People of Truth Cemetery, 1001 Cedar Lane, Hamilton Township, NJ. Memorial Contributions may be made to Adath Israel Congregation, Greenwood House of Ewing, NJ, or a charity of your choice.
