Arthur Lavinthal

DELRAY BEACH, FL… Arthur Roth Lavinthal, 84, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at New York Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

Born in Trenton, he resided here seventy years before retiring to Delray Beach, Florida where he was a member of the Men’s Club and Computer Club.

Arthur attended the Trenton schools, graduating from Trenton High School in 1952. After high school, Arthur volunteered for the draft. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. When he returned home from the Army, he received an Associate Degree in Science from Mercer County Community College.

Arthur was a cobbler by trade. He owned Sam’s Shoe Shop, a shoe repair shop located in downtown Trenton. He was the third generation from the Lavinthal Family to own Sam’s Shoe Shop.

Arthur was an avid skier. He was a member of the Trenton Ski club. Arthur skied around the world.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anita (Leibson), daughter and Son in Law; Bonnie & Barry Gothelf, son Marc Lavinthal, sister Doris Lavinthal, and three grandchildren; Margo, Jordan and Michele.

Funeral services are 11 am Thursday, December 20, at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing Township. Burial will follow at Ahavath Israel Cemetery, on Pitman Avenue, Hamilton Township. The period of mourning will be observed at the Gothelf residence in Closter, New Jersey

    My deepest sympathies on Arthur’s passing.
    I have many fond memories of all the good times and laughs we had over the years on our ski trips.
