Allen S. Applebaum, 84, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021. Born and raised in Trenton, he lived in Levittown for 59 years, recently relocating to Lawrenceville. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Faye, his parents, Barnett (Barney) and Rose Applebaum, and his granddaughters, Michaela and Chase Applebaum.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Cheryl & Allen Gorski and Michael Applebaum & Mariann Matarese, his siblings and their spouses, Jerry & Elaine Applebaum and Stanley & Olga Applebaum, his sibling in-laws, Esmond & Diana Druker and Elaine & Avrom Podbere, and his grandchildren, Sam Gorski (Nicole), Randy Gorski (Nicole), Sarah Gorski (Scott) and Reese Applebaum.
Allen was a plumber in Trenton for most of his career. After retirement he was employed at Home Depot and the Bucks County Vocational School, teaching plumbing. He was most passionate about his hobbies, which included slot car racing, candle making, flying radio-controlled airplanes, growing orchids and woodworking in “Pop’s Shop.” He was an unabashed character, always quick with a silly joke, and brought lots of love and laughter to his friends and family.
Funeral services will take place graveside on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Ewing Cemetery, 78 Scotch Road, Ewing, NJ, for family members only, and will be livestreamed via Zoom.
Shiva minyans will take place via Zoom on Saturday, January 30, Sunday, January 31, and Monday, February 1 at 7:30 PM.
Allen was a long-time member of the Bucks County Orchid Society, 501 Churchville Lane, Churchville, PA 18966, and the Northeast Philadelphia Radio Control Club (NEPRCC), P.O. Box 52436, Philadelphia, PA 19116. Either club would welcome contributions in Allen’s memory, or contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Allen was a great addition to our lives. Jackee Swartz and family. We have lots of good memories.
Dear Applebaum Family,
We have been neighbors of Faye and Alan for many years. We shared many memories, but the latest memory we have of Alan was his loving caring for Faye when she was in need. Alan was a great father and a wonderful husband!
May his memory be a blessing for you all.

I did not know Pop for a very long time but it was my pleasure to have spent a little bit of time with him. He became another grandfather to my son. Scott loved Pop very much!
I meet Allen many years ago at the Bucks County Orchid Society. We had been friends ever since. Had been thinking of him recently and wanted to give him a call, as we had not chatted in a couple of months. He was a really good guy, and I am going to miss him. My deepest condolences to his family.
I have such great memories of Uncle Allen as a kid. I remember him showing me his radio controlled airplanes and how he always joked around. He was always fun and easy to talk to and I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
We are all sad to lose your one of a kind, tell it like it is, make em laugh, renaissance orchid artiste, handy-man extraordinaire (as long as he was staying on the ladder :-)), feisty and simply lovable Dad. We haven’t all had the pleasure of knowing each others’ parents well, but we have been lucky enough to spend time with yours and have always felt like we’re part of the family. We will miss him. I REMEMBER FONDLY WORKING WITH ALLEN IN THE SUMMER AND N WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS DOING PLUMBING. I REMEMBER HIM MOST FOR TALKING MY MOTHER INTO BUYING ME A DOG FOR MY 13TH BIRTHDAY. ARACELI REMEMBERS VISITING HIM AND GETTING THE TOUR OF THE GREENHOUSE. WE’LL MISS HIM. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU.
We will miss you at the field Allen, but never forgotten.
I have know “Apples” since the mid ’80s through our mutual hobby/sport building and flying radio controlled aircraft. He was a clever guy and fun to be around. He possessed many different talents along with a great sense of humor . We bought a kitchen sink from him which he installed in our home in the early ’90s. We use it every day!
Allan will be missed.

Very sorry for your loss. Sorry I found out after the time. He was indeed a character but had such a good heart. Was caring and a good friend to my parents. Gave of himself and his time to be a youth group advisor. Loved his wife tremendously. Took delight in his children. Adored his grandchildren. I was glad I had seen in in the last couple of years even though circumstances were not the best when we connected. May his memory be a blessing and a comfort.
Our Deepest condolences to Allen’s Family and Friends. He will be missed by many of us. He was the founding member of our Model Airplane Club and devoted much of his time in our hobby and club.
Having known Allen and Faye for 60 years, they were two of our favorite people. May their memories be a blessing and comfort to you all.
Except for Stanley and maybe Jerry, I am unknown to Allan’s family. My parents Mr and Mrs Richard Riegel lived two doors down from Barney and Rose when they lived on Mark Drive in Morrisville. That is where Stanley and I meet. My condolences to the family of Allan Applebaum
