Albert (Boomey) Zachary Segal
1925 – 2025

Albert (Boomey) Z. Segal, a resident of Pennington, N.J. died on December 14, 2025 at his home at age 100, after suffering from complications from aspiration pneumonia. Mr. Segal was born and raised in Trenton, N.J. and attended Parker School, Junior #3, Trenton Central High School and graduated from the Towne School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. He was active in many charitable and civic organizations and he received many awards and much recognition for his contributions. He was a problem solver, a fixer man, a “doer’ and liked to grab a project and see it through to completion. He also loved all animals, particularly dogs (Duke, Sambo, Tucker, Lucy, Penny and many more) and all types of music including classical and jazz. He enjoyed improvising on the piano and playing boogie-woogie music. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, visiting museums, experiencing local revolutionary history, and spending time with his family, neighbors and friends. They will miss his kindness and his jokes.
During his life, Mr. Segal served in U. S. Army Corps of Engineers with 2 years overseas in European Theatre of Operation in WWII. He was honorably discharged as Master Sergeant and fought in three battle campaigns including the Ardennes, Central Europe and Rhineland.
He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania; Towne School of Engineering was elected to Sigma Tau National Honorary Society where he served as secretary. He also was Life Member American Society of Mechanical Engineers; Life Member Engineers Club of Trenton; Retired as Director of Allstates Design and Development Company Inc. after 31 years of service; served on Trenton Zoning Board of Adjustment; served on Advisory Committee of Mercer County Improvement Authority; lead the campaign to rename Fairview Avenue to honor Raoul Wallenberg in Trenton; served on many committees under former Mayor Arthur Holland; was elected to Democratic Committeeman for 30 years; was the President of Adath Israel Synagogue for 3½ years. During his administration, he had the Synagogue Constitution modernized and adopted making it easier to function. He was President of Adath Israel Men’s Club for 2 years.
He was one of the original members of Trenton Council of Civic Associations and lead a city-wide tax strike in 1967, and served as its Vice-President. He chaired the Tax Reform Committee under Mayor Holland. He was President of Glen Afton Civic Association for 32 years, improving the quality of life in Glen Afton. He received citations and resolutions from the City of Trenton, Mercer County and State of New Jersey. He also received the Senior Volunteer Award for Delaware Valley United Way; served on the Trenton Bicentennial Committee; Jewish Federation of Delaware Valley; Jewish Community Center Fund Raising Committee; Jewish Community Relations Council; Board of Directors of Middle Atlantic Region of National Federation of Men’s Clubs; he was named Man of the Year at Adath Israel Synagogue, honored by Jewish Theological Seminary of America; was Associate member of Hadassah; was awarded Life Time Achievement Award in Trenton; was Cub Scout Master for 5 years; was twice honored by Glen Afton Civic Association; was honored by Trenton Council of Civic Associations with a Lifetime Achievement Award; received resolution from Mercer County Freeholders for civic activities; resolution from State of New Jersey Assembly for civic activities; served as Secretary-Treasurer of Trenton Young Judea Association; served on Board of Directors of Four Seasons at Brandon Farms; received Mercer County Military Service Medal; State of New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal; and also received the “Heart of Gold Award” for volunteerism.
Mr. Segal was the son of the late Phillip and Rose Segal of Trenton, N.J., the brother of the late Martin Segal of Detroit, MI., the late Matilda Rubin of Huntington Woods, MI. and the late Evelyn Weinstein of Trenton, NJ. He was the loving husband for 77 of the late Blanche Levine Segal who passed in September 2025. They met as teenagers. He is survived by his devoted daughter and caregiver for the past 6 years, Sharon Segal of Washington, D.C. and Pennington; and a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Ellen Segal of Hilton Head, S.C. He is also survived many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors whom he loved very much and was aways happy to see. During his last few days, he was visited by many friends and nieces, and a special visit from Penny the Poodle which meant the world to him and brought him great happiness in his final hours.
The Segal family wishes to thank Ana, Lana, Janice, Dr. Kathy Canales, Mercer Home Care’s Therapists and Nurses, Serenity Hospice, Synergy of Pennington, the staff at Complete Health of Lawrenceville, and other medical professionals, and the many family members, Four Seasons and Brewster Court community and friends who provided love and support over the years.
Funeral services and burial with Military Honors will be held at the Ewing Cemetery on Thursday December 18, 2025 at 11:00am.
