Sonia Fenick (84) grew up in The Bronx NY and resided in Crosswicks NJ for a majority her life.
She passed away from Parkinson’s disease on Friday, May 23, 2025, surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her amazing sister, Janet Silverstein. Janet was her best friend and unwavering supporter. They were always there for each other even in their most challenging moments. She was also predeceased by her husband Larry Fenick and her parents Miriam and Stanley Schwartz.
From the beginning she was loved and adored by her parents.
Whenever she was pursuing her next adventure, she did it with passion and grace.
She had a very busy dance card starting with her teenage years when she and her best friend interviewed Alan Freed, the first DJ on the radio to play Rock and Roll music for her school paper. She loved dancing and going out with friends. She especially loved her high school girlfriends who formed a group called the Debs. They were a poodle skirt wearing group of girls who would remain friends for life. They often traveled together as adults, no husbands allowed, and visited places like Iceland, London, Portugal and more.
She and our dad enjoyed traveling and eating out and always could be found at Mastoris Diner, at least a few days a week. They started Hamilton Uniforms, which became a very successful business and important in the local community. There she saw the need to develop other types of revenue and started doing bids for federal and state contracts and expanded their already successful business, making sure that it stayed relevant in a changing world.
She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and a loyal friend. Her conviction to make sure we all felt strong, heard, safe and loved were key ingredients to making us who we are and we will be forever grateful for that.
She was compassionate and kind, patient and motivating, humble and sensitive. She was the keeper of secrets and giver of advice as long as we asked for it. We will miss her every day and keep her in our hearts. She will always be around watching over us and only a quiet conversation away. We love you mom.
Sonia is survived by Lisa Sweig and her husband Jonathan, Robin Fenick Levy and her husband Paul and David Fenick and his wife Sue and 7 grandchildren, who she adored, as well as her brother-in-law, Elliott Silverstein and niece Marni Silverstein.
She was married to her college sweetheart, Larry Fenick, and they were together for over 50 years. Together they found joy and love, strength and resilience and the ability to raise us to become who we are today.
Private graveside services were held on Wednesday, May 28 at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Parkinson’s foundation or Fox foundation both of which focus on Parkinson’s research.

In 2019, I began experiencing symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, which was diagnosed in 2021. Among my severe symptoms were tremors, difficulty walking, weakness throughout my body, and stiffness and rigidity. My meds only provided temporary relief, so I decided to try other approaches and started the PD-5 treatment program from uine healthcentre. ne t. With the help of this therapy regimen, I have seen significant improvements in my walking, balance, tremors, and appetite, and I have resumed my guitar playing again and sign my name as I had before Parkinson’s. I am incredibly grateful.
