Juris Svarcbergs, of Ewing, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on August 1st, 2026, with his wife and son by his side. Juris was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Juris was born in Riga, Latvia, to Velta and Albert Svarcbergs. He was raised in Latvia until the age of 3, when his family fled WWII forces and emigrated to Boston Massachusetts. Through the kindness and grace of many people, his family made a home in Massachusetts. Juris had fond memories of his time working and playing on the Curtis estate, where the Curtis family employed his parents, aunt, and uncle, and where he learned and grew with the other children of the Curtis families.
After years in the Greater Boston area, he obtained a DMD and MPH before relocating to Ewing, New Jersey, where he would remain for the rest of his life – stewarding the land, building a house, and caring for his family.
Juris will be remembered for his steadfast convictions and dedication to what he believed in, most above all else, his commitment to bettering the world through making access to quality public health easier for everyone. Outside of public service, he loved the outdoors – hiking and boating with friends and family whenever he could.
Juris is survived by his wife Nancy, son Eriks, and granddaughter Delilah. He is deeply missed and will be forever remembered for his tenacity and generosity.
A celebration of his life will be held in New Jersey and Massachusetts for his many family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center, where he was treated with great care and expertise for the last years of his life.
