Janet H. Laskin

1929 – 2026

Janet H. Laskin, 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania on March 15th, 2026.

She was born Janet Hofstadter on December 1st, 1929, at Woman’s Hospital in New York City to Miriam and Meyer Hofstadter. Janet was known to friends lovingly as ‘Hoffie” in her hometown of New Rochelle. She attended the University of Vermont before eventually settling in Lower Bucks County.

Janet was the beloved wife of Ellward Laskin, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Melissa Sayer and Andrew (Nancy) Sapiro, her grandchildren Adam and Joshua Sapiro, Ricky and Lindsay Sayer, Ali (Robert) Kieffer, their father Douglas Sayer, and Janet’s sister Dorothy Lewis. Janet is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-grandchildren.

Janet was a pioneering businesswoman. For more than 30 years, she co-owned (with her first husband Jerome Sapiro) two successful independent children’s & young junior’s clothing stores in Ewing and Lawrenceville, New Jersey, named Young Ages and The Place.

Laskin, above all, loved her family, especially watching her children and grandchildren grow into the individuals she was so proud of. “I learned many years ago that family is what counts,” she said on her 95th birthday. “Family is where our love should be.”

Relatives and friends are invited to funeral services on Wednesday, March 18th at 11 am at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Rd, Ewing Township, New Jersey 08618. Interment to follow at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park.

Contributions in Janet’s memory may be made to the Frezel Family Tikkun Olam Fund at Har Zion Temple and the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History.
