After completing his service, he moved to Ewing, NJ, where he began a long and dedicated career with the New Jersey Department of Transportation. He retired after more than 40 years of service, earning the deep respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Throughout his life in Ewing, Robert was deeply involved in the Ewing Girls Soccer Association, where he served as a coach and mentor for over two decades, positively impacting countless young athletes.

Robert is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Geri; his children, Rebecca Rouze and Stephen McLaughlin; and his granddaughters, Megan and Kaitlin Jeffery, all of Ewing. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Robert Hite of Circleville, NY, as well as numerous cousins and extended family members.

While services will be private, the family respectfully requests that, in lieu of condolences and flowers, donations be made in Robert’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support during this difficult time.

Bob McLaughlin was a wonderful man and an outstanding NJDOT employee, with whom I had the pleasure to work. He was always helpful, ingenious, and kind. My deepest sympathies to the family, especially to his daughter, Becky who displays the same great work ethic and kind heart. Sincerely, Caroline Carmody

Thank you Caroline and Tom. I unfortunately, do not know Caroline, but I’m sure my sister does, and we greatly appreciate the thoughts.
Tom, your name will always stick in my head. My father thought very highly of you. He never spoke negative about anyone, but I know he had a great deal of respect for you. We all appreciate all the comments and great thoughts across all platforms we have been receiving. Every one is read, and y family is grateful for all the love and respect everyone has for him.

Bob and I grew up together. Known each other since kindergarten. He always had a kind word. Rest in peace my friend.

I had no idea of Bob’s passing. I worked with Bob at NJDOT years ago. Bob was a master with recalling funding and knew his stuff. He loved to joke and tease you a bit but was always helpful and fun. I can still hear him laughing and having a good time. Bless you, Bob. You were a great coworker and person.
