Aleksandr Kogan of Princeton, NJ, passed away on July 17, 2024 at 8:44pm.
He was born on Feb 7, 1939 in Chișinău, then part of Romania. In 1941 he and his mother, Miriam Goldberg, fleeing the Nazi invasion, migrated to Bukhara, Uzbekistan and later moved to Tashkent, where he lived until immigrating to the United States in 1996.
He finished the Tashkent State Technical University with Master of Electrical Engineering degree and worked in many areas of Soviet metallurgy and power production, reaching the level of Principal Engineer in a large state corporation. In the US Aleksandr worked as HVAC engineer in the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
In his youth Aleksandr was a sportsman, participating in the Uzbekistan youth gymnastic team. Later in life he became a prominent philatelist and numismatist, assembling a large and sophisticated collection of the world postal stamps and coins.
Aleksandr was a loving and loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Nella, son Felix and his wife Sayara, grandsons Mark and Ronald and great-grandchildren Adira and Asher.

Funeral services are Friday, July 19 at 1:00 pm at Adath Israel Congregation, 1958 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery, 104 Deans Rhode Hall Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ.
