Sylvia Aronis

Sylvia Wiener Aronis, age 104, died August 19, 2021.

Born in Philadelphia to immigrant tailors Samuel and Rebecca Wiener, Sylvia lived most of her adult life in Trenton. She graduated from Temple University with a master’s in clinical psychology. She will be remembered for her passion for learning, her curiosity, her creativity and an indomitable spirit.

Funeral services are private but may be viewed by livestream on Thursday, August 26 at 12:00 noon (see link at top of page). Private burial will follow at Ewing Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Greenwood House, 53 Walter St, Ewing, NJ 08628.

    Dear Aronis Family,
Harry was my pediatrician when I was a little girl in Trenton. I remember Sylvia from Har Sinai Temple as being kind and smart but had no idea how talented she was. I am so sorry she is gone from this earth but 104 is an achievement to be proud of.

l live in Woodbrook House where Sylvia presided for many years.

She was a joy and privilege to know. She kept busy playing with the many donated jigsaw puzzles.

You will be missed by many here at Woodbrook House

    Dear Aronis family,

Sylvia will always have a huge part of my heart, being the best friend of my dear grandmother, May Medoff. Sylvia was a brilliant woman, strong and compassionate, she was so kind and loving. Sylvia was a true woman ahead of her times, she was a friend of all walks of life, from the wealthy to the poor. I will always remember Sylvia for her creativity, her puzzles, her sharp mind, her wisdom and mostly her kindness and love. She was remarkable. Love, Jessie

    Dear Ellen and family,
Although I didn’t know your mom personally, I always had the distinct impression that she was quite a woman in so many ways and absolutely larger than life. I suspect these traits live on in her offspring. David and I send warm and heartfelt wishes to you and your family on this huge loss and, we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

    Dear Aronis Family,
Dr. Aronis was my pediatrician as a child, and when I married and had children, he became my children’s pediatrician. That is when I met Mrs. Aronis. She was always so patient, so friendly, and we shared a love of sewing and needlepoint. She often took me aside during an office visit to show me one of her beautiful creations. My children, my sister, and I were lucky to be cared for by Dr. and Mrs. Aronis. My husband and I were classmates of Frances, and she and I were dance partners in our sophomore year in Black Team Sport Night. We are sorry for your loss of the lovely lady who was your mother and grateful for our connections to your parents.
