Israel David Dubin
1953 – 2025
Israel David Dubin, of Ewing, NJ, passed away on January 30, 2025 at 71 years old.
“Israel”, “Is”, “Hubby”, “Your Honor”, “Dad.” From serious to silly, all these names he went by reflect the kind of man he was: silly and serious, alike. First and foremost, Israel Dubin was a man who loved, and did so with his whole heart. It was never a secret – when he loved you, he made certain you knew it both in word and action. From this love sprang forth his kindness. He made a habit of chatting with the cashiers who rang him up wherever he went; at the places he went frequently, he would inevitably begin to call them “friend.”
At work, his love and kindness were embodied in a man devoted to fairness and ethics. During his career as a lawyer, Israel created the NJ Legal Ethics Hotline. Eventually, he was appointed an Administrative Law Judge for the State of NJ where he became the preeminent voice and expert on Special Education Law. Perhaps most significantly, over the course of his nearly decade-long appointment, not a single decision of his was overturned by the appellate courts. Israel Dubin, in a few words, was fair and ethical – a mensch.
Many good memories remain.
Israel is predeceased by his father, Jack Dubin; his mother, Estelle (Dubin) Steiger; and his step-father, Fred Steiger. He is survived by his wife, Carol Greenfield-Dubin of Ewing NJ; his three children, Jay Dubin of Franklin Park NJ, Naomi Dubin & John Graham of Madison WI, and Jesse Dubin of Pittsburgh PA; his sister Claire Dubin of Philadelphia PA; and his step-sisters and their families, Eden & Allan Fisher of East Haven CT, and Susan & Fred Baron of Whately MA.
