Estelle Goodstein

October 18,1924 – April 16, 2026

Estelle Goodstein passed away on April 16, 2026 in Phoenix, AZ after a brief illness.

Estelle was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of Simon and Sadie Weil.  She attended Hunter College but left to marry Julian Goodstein, September 5, 1943.  She was delighted to become part of the large Goodstein family and was a favorite of her father-in-law Harry. She joined Julian who was in the army stationed in the south, returning briefly to Brooklyn in 1945 to give birth to her first daughter, Robin.

After Julian’s discharge they returned to Trenton and settled there.   In 1950 her second daughter, Susan was born and her third daughter, Andrea was born in 1955. During these years Estelle was a homemaker and was involved in the Adath Israel Sisterhood.

Estelle then began working in the Trenton School System and returned to college getting her bachelor’s degree at Trenton State College (now TCNJ).  She worked as a teacher until her retirement. In 2003 she moved to the Four Seasons in Allentown making new friends and acquired her beloved Yorkie Teddy.

Throughout this time, she had many friends and was an avid and excellent bridge player and volunteered at the PSRC.

In 2021 she moved to Phoenix and lived with her daughter Susan and husband Ira Thomas until 2023 when she moved to the Palazzo Assisted Living and remained there until her death. She made more friends with residents and staff and they loved and admired her for her kindness, strength and beauty.

Estelle is survived by her daughter Robin Goodstein of New York City, her daughter Susan Thomas (Ira), and grandson Michael Schafer (Gillian).  She is predeceased by her parents, Simon and Sadie Weil, her husband Julian, her daughter Andrea Goodstein-Curtis and brother Howard Weil.

Funeral services and burial are Wednesday, April 22 at 11 am at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park (Adath Israel Section) 545 Eggerts Crossing Road, Ewing, NJ.
