Barbara Bartner

Barbara Bartner, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, at her assisted living residence in Princeton, New Jersey, with her daughters by her side. She was 83 years old.

Barbara was born on November 8, 1942, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Murray and Helen Sinofsky  . She spent much of her childhood in Paterson alongside her younger sister, Rita, surrounded by the love of her family.

She attended Mount Ida College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she met her love David Bartner. They were married in June 1962 and shared a devoted marriage built on love and family. Together they raised their two daughters, Kathryn and Stephanie.

Barbara and David began their married life in Englewood, New Jersey, before settling in Parsippany, where they spent sixteen years raising their family. During that time, Barbara became deeply involved in Jewish life and was an active member of the Lake Hiawatha Jewish Center. Her faith and commitment to her synagogue and Jewish community were an important part of who she was.

The family later moved to North Brunswick, New Jersey, where they lived for 20 years before settling in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, to be closer to their children and, eventually, their grandchildren. Following David’s passing two and a half years ago, Barbara moved to an assisted living community in Princeton so she could remain close to the family she cherished most.

Barbara will be remembered above all for her remarkable strength and resilience. Throughout every chapter of her life, she faced challenges with courage, determination, and grace. She had a generous heart and found joy in caring for others, especially through her lifelong love of knitting. Her family  were wrapped not only in the beautiful blankets, sweaters, scarves, and hats she lovingly created, but also in the warmth and love that went into every stitch.

Nothing brought Barbara greater happiness than spending time with her family. She treasured every moment with her daughters and grandchildren, who were the center of her world.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Kathryn and Stephanie, their husbands Alan and Jay, her 5 beloved grandchildren, great grandson,  her sister, Rita and brother in law Len , as well as her cat Cali. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Bartner, and her parents, Murray and Helen Sinofsky.

Barbara’s legacy of strength, resilience, love, faith, and devotion to her family will live on in all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
