Vinnie had a variety of professions throughout his lifetime, starting at 8 years old he worked alongside his father at the family grocery store V. Caruso & Sons, New Rochelle, NY, was an Adolescent Therapist in a closed Psychiatric Unit at Westchester County Medical Center Valhalla, NY, US Postal mail carrier in New Rochelle NY and Toms River, NJ, owned his own hoagie shop, Hoagie Palace in Beach Haven, NJ on LBI, Bakery Associate/ Deli Manager at the Crust and Crumb/ Back Door Deli, on LBI, Railroad Conductor with SEPTA Railroad, Philadelphia, Pa, Railroad Ambassador with SunRail in Sanford, Fl., and he was currently a Ticket Agent at the Langhorne, Pa, train station with Edens Corporation, Philadelphia.
He was a proud to be one of the biggest Yankees fans , as was his mom Anna. I remember Vinnie and his mom calling each other during games to discuss and critique the players and the game. When we were with his mom it was so heartwarming to see them bonding over the ball games.
Vinnie was a huge movie lover, there were not too many movies he didn’t see. He could remember and quote lines from most of the movies he saw. He was also a huge Star Wars fan, and he had a vast collection of Star Wars memorabilia. He would watch the movies over and over again and said he always found something he didn’t see other times he watched them like many of the other movies he watched. His favorite bands were the Beetles and The Moody Blues.
Vinnie was very proud to be member of the brotherhood of the Kappa Sigma Kappa fraternity and the association with their sister sorority Phi Iota Sima.
Vinnie was a people person and he would strike up a conversation with just about everyone he met.
Here are a few quotes I received from his family and friends,
Wow! So sorry to hear this news. I would affectionally call him My Cousin Vinnie. Rest peacefully.
He touched so many of us in the Yankee World
Maybe he’ll manage the Yankees from upstairs. RIP VINNIE
