Dr. Sanford (Sandy) Paskow
 April 3, 1928 – December 19, 2024

Dr. Sanford (Sandy) Paskow passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, at the age of 96, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 3, 1928, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Sandy lived a life rich with accomplishment, dedication, and love.

Sandy graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Elizabeth, NJ, in 1945. He went on to attend Ohio State University, where he completed his undergraduate studies in 1949, before earning his dental degree from the University of Maryland’s Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1954. During his time at dental school, he distinguished himself through his leadership and academic excellence, serving as Secretary of the Gorgas Odontological Honor Society, Secretary and President of the Zeta Mu Chapter of Alpha Omega Fraternity, and President of the Interfraternity Council.

After dental school, Sandy served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1956. He went on to establish a successful general dentistry practice in Colonia, NJ, where he cared for patients for over four decades. In his later years, he became passionate about addressing obstructive sleep apnea, a commitment that reflected his lifelong dedication to advancing dental health. Sandy retired fully in April 1996.

Sandy’s professional achievements were extensive. He was a Life Member of the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, Union County Dental Society, and the Sleep Disorder Dental Society. He also served as a past member of the Middlesex County Dental Society, Past President of the Raritan Valley Chapter of Alpha Omega Fraternity, and a past member of the Academy for International Medical Studies. Beyond his practice, he dedicated his skills to charitable work, including a month of service at a children’s dental clinic in Jerusalem.

Sandy was fortunate to have the love and support of two families. He shared his early life with Doris Rogers of the Bronx, NY, with whom he raised three children, Ken, Lori, and Stu, in Scotch Plains, NJ. He was the proud grandfather of Aaron. Later, Sandy built a wonderful life in Princeton, NJ, with Dolores Lichstein, who brought three children from her previous marriage: Patti, Scott, and Jeff. Together they shared the joy of 3 grandsons Alex, Sam and Jonny, 1 granddaughter, Tessa and 4 great grandchildren Holly, Freddie, Rylan and Harper.

Outside of his professional and family life, Sandy was an avid golfer. He enjoyed playing at Shackamaxon Golf and Country Club during his years in Scotch Plains and later at Greenacres Golf Club in Princeton.

Sandy was a great storyteller and a pretty good poet.  His grandchildren would hang on every word of a story about the planet Manga Bubbaloo told so convincingly that one of them insisted to a teacher that she left one planet out of the solar system!!  Celebrations amongst family and friends often started with a poem that was funny yet sincere.  When the music came on Sandy could be found on the dance floor oftentimes outlasting the “youngsters” and into his 90’s he still gamely insisted on cutting a rug.  He will be remembered for his intelligence, humor, compassion, and unwavering commitment to his family, profession, and community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A private family service will be held in his honor sometime in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Sandy’s memory.
