I had the pleasure of knowing Rudy for many years through his outstanding volunteer Service to the Kosher Meals on Wheels program. He not only delivered meals to countless clients but more recently when he no longer drove recruited and scheduled volunteers making sure the program continued. He also received meals and always had a pleasant cheerful greeting when I delivered .

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father/grandfather. I was a member of Adath Israel as I grew up in Ewing. My parents are Herbert (now passed away) and Sally Moses. I remember Mr. Lowenstein coming to deliver eggs to our house when we were young. He would often come around dinnertime. We’d hear his knock on our back door and let him in. He was so warm and wonderful. My mother for the past many years has served as one of his volunteers, delivering Meals on Wheels. I do meals on wheels in my community and can tell you that is a big mitzvah. My mom said Mr Lowenstein would pick up the slack whenever one of the volunteers couldn’t do the route. He was older than many of the people he looked out for. He will certainly be remembered as a giving soul. May you be comforted by your surely many memories.

I just heard the news of Rudy’s passing. I got to know Rudy over the years as a volunteer deliverer of Meals on Wheels. He was such a role model and my husband and kids all “knew” about Rudy and his wonderful outlook on life. I will always remember him for his upbeat spirit and always looking at the glass as half full rather than half empty. I will miss him and hope his family will be comforted by their memories of him!

I’ve only just received my copy of NJ Jewish Times, since I now live in CT. I am so sorry to see that Rudy has passed. May his memory be a blessing. I got to know Rudy through Adath Israel and meals on wheels. In the time I knew him, his energy and dedication to his wife Clara, the synagogue and meals on wheels never wavered. He was a fixture in services encouraging me to take Aliyah’s and showing me the ropes. My desire to be able to be a contributing member of the synagogue led to me taking a class and becoming a Bat Mitzvah at nearly 40 years old. One of the greatest events at the synagogue was when Rudy had his “second” Bar Mitzvah. He was filled with interesting stories, and was always calm and good humored. They don’t make them like Rudy any more! The world will be a sadder and more lonely place without him. To his children and grandchildren, our sympathies and prayers are with you.
