Robert L. Rich, age 86, of Baltimore, MD, formerly of East Windsor, NJ, born in Brooklyn, NY, passed away on July 16, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Predeceased by his wife, Susan Rich, who passed in 2015, he is survived by his children, Seth Rich and his wife Melinda, and Wendy Rich-Orloff and her husband David, and a brother, Errol Rich.
He was the former cat father of Kitty, Mister, and Brat.
A lover of the arts, classical music, and opera, he was a longtime member of both the Congregation Beth Chaim Choir and the New Jersey Gay Men’s Chorus.
Robert was an accountant, working at City Stores Company, The Wiz, and Jamesway. He retired from that fast-paced world to a life of leisure working at Wegman’s and hanging out at the East Windsor Senior Center.
Smart, clever, warm, charming, everyone loved him, even when he began to forget who they were. His daughter Wendy points out that “Alzheimier’s is a terrible thing – be gentle with your loved ones suffering it, and hug them. Dad will be missed.”
Private funeral services and burial are at Emeth Shalom Cemetery in Plainfield, NJ.
Memorial contributions may be made to: National Multiple Sclerosis Society, or to Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
Bob was a long time and enthusiastic member of our Beth Chaim (Adult) Choir. I will remember him fondly. My condolences to his family and friends.
While I knew Susan better – my many encounters with Bob ( usually talking about BROOKLYN) always impressed me. Sad to realize they have both died. My condolences to their children and family.
We are very sorry for your loss. We hold you in our hearts and love you very much.
The Wax Family
