I have great memories of Richie both as an a official and athletic director. Richie loved everything he did from teaching , officiating, assigning and talking about his family. He was very proud and passionate about his wife and children. He was one of the funniest men I ever met. No matter the issue he could add a bit of levity. He will be missed.
Our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Kane family. I have had the pleasurer to officiate 3 sports with Richie. Soccer , Basketball and Softball . He also assign me Baseball & Softball games Weather is was officiating or assigning he was always a pleasure to be around. We played golf many times together at Lawrenceville Prep school . One of my fondest memories was working his last game as a High Scholl softball Umpire. Richie, Eric Hamilton and myself worked that day and it was the First ever TOC HS softball game . RIP Richie
I only came into Rich’s life in recent years through a weekly bridge group, so I didn’t have a long life-history with him; but I truly enjoyed his company in the short time I knew him and will sorely miss his banter during our games, and his comic post-game analysis and comments.
We did not know Richie well, but so sorry to hear about his passing
Memories the Family will have will always be treasured.
Sorry for your Loss

I had the pleasure of meeting Richie while coaching softball for both Princeton ( 2008 til 2016) and Robbinsville (2017-present) High Schools . He was always a gentleman and made the calls as he saw them or didn’t see them. I respected Richie because he would hear your argument over a call even though he wouldn’t budge off his decision. He enjoyed umpiring and in the past few years only took certain games ( which I’m proud to say Robbinsville was a part of)
I considered Richie a friend and like to think we bonded over a game we both love being a part of. I will miss Richie on the field this year (2021) but will think of him often when this season gets underway. God Bless his Family . My condolences to all his Family ,Friends and extended Family on the Diamond.
