MONROE TOWNSHIP… Morton Kobrin, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
Born in Massachusetts, he grew up in Wareham and attended the Wareham public schools. Shortly after graduating from Northeastern University, he opened Star Jewelers, a retail shop in Wareham, MA. He moved the store from Wareham to Pocasset, MA in 1992, which he ran until his retirement.
Mort was a member of the Freemasons and a docent at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. He and his wife, Sonia, were members of Tiferath Israel Congregation in New Bedford for 35 years, until moving to New Jersey in 2006, when they became members of Beth El Synagogue in East Windsor, NJ.
An avid tennis player and a collector of all things. He enjoyed fixing and building items for the house. Mort loved to travel, and was glad to relocate to New Jersey to be close to his family, especially his grandchildren. He lived by his favorite saying “everything is a learning experience.”
Mort is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sonia Kobrin; a son, Lewis Kobrin; a daughter, Leslie Kobrin; a brother, Alvin Kobrin; a sister, Ruth Glaser; and two grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy Kobrin.
Funeral services and burial are Friday, 11 AM, June 8 at Tifereth Israel Cemetery,
