Lester Goldberg

TRENTON… Lester Cecil Goldberg, 103, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at Chandler Hall, Newtown, PA.

Born in Trenton, Mr. Goldberg was a lifelong resident, residing for many years on the ‘island’ section of town. He was the proprietor of Lester’s for over 50 years before retiring. Mr. Goldberg was a proud Navy veteran of World War II, serving on blimps (air ships) in the South Atlantic.

He was the son of the late Louis and Fanny (Berman) Goldberg and brother of the late Joseph Goldberg, Dora Levin, Maurice “Bookie” Goldberg, Sophie Goldberg, Bertha Zier, Bea Richmond and Dee Steinberg. He was the husband of the late Patricia Dauphin Goldberg. Mr. Goldberg is survived by a son, Louis Goldberg; a stepson, Ronald (Viola) Arndt, and 12 nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Hale and hearty even into his 100’s, Mr. Goldberg lived independently, continuing to mow his own lawn and making trips to Parks Casino. A self-described ‘kibitzer,’ ‘Uncle Lester’ was known and beloved for his innumerable stories and jokes.

Funeral services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Rd., Ewing. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton. The family respectfully requests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice.

I just found out about Lester’s death.
I always find myself thinking about him!
I never until this evening thought to search for his name on the internet.
