Leslie Gayle Punia Schwebel, 67, passed away at Mt. Sinai hospital New York City on May 18, 2019. Born in Brooklyn, NY, raised in Trenton, NJ several years ago Leslie moved to Manhattan Beach, California.
Leslie graduated Trenton Central High School in 1969, later she graduated from Endicott Junior College in Beverly Massachusetts. She started her career in retail as a receptionist for Jones New York and worked her way to a prominent buying position with the company.
During her lifetime, Leslie donated to many charities including Greenwood House and numerous animal rescue organizations.
Leslie was diagnosed in 2011 with lung cancer. With the help of the doctors and nurses at University of Pennsylvania Hospital she fought a long hard battle against this difficult disease.
Leslie was predeceased by her parents Renee and Leonard Punia. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Sheryl Punia; her children Mathew and Dale Schwebel, Michael Schwebel and Mallory and Jared Cash; her two granddaughters Carlee-Mae and Alyson Cash; her niece and nephew Elyse and Andrew Rosenfield, her nephew Charles Punia, great nephew Sebastian Rosenfield as well as her aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Funeral services and burial are 2:30 pm on Wednesday May 22 at Floral Park Cemetery, 104 Deans Rhode Hall Road, Monmouth Junction (South Brunswick), NJ. Shiva will be held after interment and Wednesday evening at Joseph & Sheryl Punia’s residence in Princeton, NJ. The family requests in lieu of flowers or fruit baskets that memorial contributions should be made to Greenwood House, 53 Walter St. Ewing Township, NJ 08628-3085.
