James (Jack) Newman passed away on July 19, 2025 at the age of 87.
Born in Brooklyn NY on December 8, 1937. Jack grew up in New York later moving to Mt Holly and Lawrenceville, NJ.
After graduating from Cornell University in1959, Jack was a professor at City College of New York and Rider University and then worked as an Actuary for the state of NJ until his retirement.
Son of the late Meyer and Etta Newman, Jack is survived by his wife Alice of 34 years, His step children, Roy Blanchard, Cristopher Blanchard, Helene Schwartz and Stephen Schwartz. His step grandchildren, Justin, Jacab and Sofia Venezia and Sara Blanchard.
Alice and Jack were very active in their retirement and loved the outdoors, traveling and hiking up to the top of Machu Picchu. Jack was a long-time member of Toast Master International and an avid Mets fan. Jack was a gentle soul with a dry sense of humor.
Funeral services were held on July 22, 2025 at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ with burial at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park in Ewing.

If this is the Jack Newman who used to belong to Beth Chaim, in West Windsor, I can say he was a delightful man. I used to fight with another woman over Jack, as to whose house he would come to for Passover .
