Harriet Pinkus Schulman, aged 83, passed away on December 16, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ben and Lillian Pinkus and sister to her late brother, David Pinkus.
Harriet earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Long Island University’s C.W. Post campus. After dedicating herself to raising her family, she embarked on a meaningful career as a process and procedure writer and trainer for the City of New York, contributing to both Children and Adult Services with diligence and care.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Harriet found joy in tennis, skiing, and sailing. Her deep affection for animals led her to volunteer at animal shelters, where she made a difference in the lives of countless creatures. She especially adored her cherished pet, Fangsy.
Harriet will be remembered for her caring nature and generosity of spirit. She brought positivity and light to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on through her four children: Lori (Klaus), Barbra, Carolyn (Neal), and Andrew (Alison), as well as her four grandchildren: Aaron, Ian, Kate, and Max.
In honor of Harriet’s memory, contributions may be made to Jewish Family Services of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties; the Alzheimer’s Association; or the North Hempstead Animal Shelter.
Harriet’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
