With a heavy heart, the family of Gene (G.H.) Friedlander announces his passing on June 27, 2021. Gene was born in New York City and lived most of his life in Mercer County. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Military before attending Temple University where he received his B.A., and Fairleigh Dickenson University where he received his M.A. A psychologist by training, he was committed to serving others. He worked for the Diocese of Philadelphia as a school psychologist, the City of Philadelphia, and the State of New Jersey Department of Corrections. He also taught psychology at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. He served in many volunteer roles, including Chair of the Ewing Township Zoning Board, the Mercer County Mental Health Board, umpired little league baseball and was a dedicated member of the Ewing Democratic Club. He was also a member of Adath Israel Congregation.
A man of many passions, he especially loved his Brooklyn Dodgers, fishing, woodworking, music, and had a love for Jewish learning. Above all, he loved his family. Son of the late Max and Lillian Friedlander, he is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sydney Friedlander, his children, Lisa (Friedander) Armony and Seth Friedlander and their spouses, Doron Armony and Lisa (Hopp) Friedlander, his grandchildren, Itai, Eden and Hadar Armony and Ellie and Avi Friedlander, his sister, Sybil (Friedlander) Bernstein and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial are Tuesday 11AM (June 29) at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Adath Israel Section, 545 Eggerts Crossing Road, Ewing Township
Shiva will be observed from Tuesday, June 29 until Sunday, July 4 between the hours of 6 and 9pm at the family home.
Contributions in his memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Gene was a very wonderful man, and a pillar of our community for many years. He will be sorely missed. May his memory be a blessing for all those who knew him.
GH was an amazing man, an inspiration. I learned so much from him, his resilience, his profound love for his family and his passion for learning and understanding himself. Wishing much comfort to his beloved family.

We are so sorry to hear that Gene passed away. There are so many photos we have of your family that bring back many wonderful memories. Lisa and Warren were so cute together when they were toddlers.
