Edward “Eddie” Paul Lemack, 86, of Allentown, NJ, entered into eternal peace on January 9th, 2021.
He was born in Boston, MA to Jack Lemack and Lillian Lemack (Raskind). He earned a Bachelors degree from Northeastern University in Boston and an MBA from Babson College in Wellesley, MA.
Edward was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army. He lived in Pirmasens, Germany while serving in the army. Later he resided in Framingham, MA for over 20 years, before moving to Muttontown, Long Island, NY and then Allentown, NJ where he resided these past 22 years.
He began his business career as a traveling salesman in the textile industry, covering the areas of New England and New York. He expanded his business experience by opening up Heibon Corp., as owner, in Everett, MA, which was bought out by Handler Textile Corp. of NY; where he became CEO and majority shareholder. He retired and, then as only classic Eddie would do, came out of retirement to help establish and build Alvanon, Inc. After achieving his goal, he once again retired and boredom set in, hence, InkStables LLC was started.
Eddie was a member of IACD (International Association of Clothing Designers), and was Treasurer and member of other various organizations. He was a member of Beth El Synagogue in East Windsor.
He loved and had a passion for playing cards, hearts, gin rummy, spades, solitaire, bridge and even went on a cruise for bridge players only. He was an avid Tennis Buff, a player as well as spectator.
He enjoyed cutting up the trees when they fell on the property during storms. He would hear bad weather in the forecast and immediately get his chain saw ready to go. His family, on the other hand, held their breath for no mishaps.
He loved going fishing anytime, especially with his grandchildren.
He participated as a crew member in the Long Island Regatta for several years and in the Bermuda Race for Amateur Boaters from Marion Cape Cod, MA to Bermuda.
He loved his time with the family including vacations skiing in Aspen, snowmobiling in New Hampshire, boating on Lake Winnipesaukee, visiting Caribbean Islands, and Christmases in Acapulco.
Edward is predeceased by his parents, Jack Lemack and Lillian Lemack (Raskind), his sister, Frances Brooks, his brothers Oscar “Art” Lemack and Robert D. Lemack, and Brother-in-Law Marvin A. Feinman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Bernice Feinman Lemack. The two met at Bernice’s first high school dance, where Eddie was the coat check person. He asked what her name was as she handed him her coat. When she asked why he replied, “because I would like to know the name of the woman I am going to marry”…the rest is history.
Eddie is also survived by his four daughters, Bonnie Austin of Hightstown, NJ, Heidi Lemack-Beck (Jason Beck) of Allentown, NJ, Stacey Rise (Steven) of Huntington Station, NY, and Jodi Hills (Donald Jr.) of Ghent, NY, as well as grandchildren Lillian Austin, Raymond Austin II, Winn Austin, Luke Rise, Ruth Rise, Timothy Rise, Robert Hills (wife Shan Hills), Colby Hills, and a great-grandchild, Erik Rise, several nieces, nephews and cousins and many, many friends, and his beloved pet, Ginger.
Funeral services and burial are private in Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, MA.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, Make-A-Wish Foundation or a charity of your choice.
Prayers to Eddie’s family from the Swift family. I worked at Handler Textile when Eddie took charge for at least a decade and was in contact for many years afterwards. Some of the best years of my working life.
Well done Eddie!
I was fortunate to have worked for Eddie at Handler for several years. We traveled the world, spent many hours playing gin rummy , 15 hours straight on flights to Asia. Eddie taught me so much, we worked hard but were able to balance time with many laughs. He was a mentor to me and I owe much of my success to lessons I learned from him.
May his memory be a blessing.
Eddie always brought a smile to everyone who came to Rhythm and Blues. He had endless interesting stories and always had a smile on his face. Eddie will be missed by many!
Dear Lemack family. What a wonderful chronicle of Eddie’s life. So many things I didn’t know about this extraordinary man. I had to chuckle at many of the quips. You all are a remarkable family. I often liken you to the “Waltons”. You never turn away from hardship but embrace it, pull together and get through. This is the ultimate hardship which you will get through but it will never be gone. Don’t be afraid to grieve. Take time for yourselves “whenever” needed. Each day will be different. We will all remember the good times!! Eddie was a blessing and accomplished his work here on Earth. Prayers, hugs and love.
That’s such a great story about how your parents met! Good to learn more about your dad. Sending love.
We Greeks have a saying “May his memory be eternal”.
May his be.
My love and respect to those left behind. A finer group of people I’ve never met.
We had many long conversations. He was a great guy. The world lost a treasure.
