Alice Elaine Lebair (Shutz)
May 13, 1928 – June 14, 2025
Alice E. Lebair, 97, passed away on June 14, 2025. She was the loving wife of Walter Scott Washington Lebair with whom she shared 68 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2016.
Born and raised in Trenton NJ, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lillian (Rom) Shutz. Alice was a graduate of Trenton Central High School. Alice lived in Trenton, Ewing, Lawrenceville NJ and Orlando FL prior to relocating to Quakertown PA to be closer to family in 2024.
Alice met her husband Walter at the home of her future in-laws when she was visiting her sister Betty who had married Walter’s older brother W. Ralph Lebair, Jr.
Alice loved to keep busy. She enjoyed playing mahjong with her friends and creating many types of craft items. She sewed, knitted and crocheted making clothes, booties and hats and each great grandchild received a custom crocheted baby blanket. Alice had the ability to copy any type of craft she saw.
Alice and Walt enjoyed traveling and taking bus trips to Atlantic City to visit the casinos. Alice loved shopping at Macy’s and seeing her grandchildren. She was affectionately known to her great grandchildren as Cookie Mom Mom.
Alice worked for the State of NJ for three years before she had her daughters and again once her daughters were old enough to care for themselves, retiring from the State of NJ in 1991.
Alice and Walt volunteered in their community for many years including Deborah Heart & Lung Hospital, election polling sites each November and proctoring MCAT & LSAT exams.
Alice is predeceased by her sister Betty Shutz Lebair. Alice is survived by her three daughters Dr. Jodi (Len Yenchik), Wendy (Michael Cannella, deceased) and Allison (Kurt Althouse) along with 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, all her pride and joy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deborah Foundation as the hospital was near and dear to Alice and Walt. https://www.deborahfoundation.org/donate/
