Adele Zimmerman

Adele Zimmerman, age 98, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, after a gradual decline in health.

A longtime resident of Great Neck, New York, Adele lived there for more than thirty years before moving to Yardley, Pennsylvania, to be closer to her daughter, Susan Sacks, during her later years.

Born and raised in West Hempstead, New York, Adele was the beloved daughter of Jean and David Shapiro. After devoting her early years to raising her two children, Robert Zimmerman and Susan Sacks, Adele began a second career as a travel agent, which she enjoyed well into her eighties. Her work reflected her love of people and her adventurous spirit, taking her to destinations across the globe — from the turquoise lagoons of Tahiti to the sweeping plains of Africa, where she once soared in a hot air balloon.

Adele was known to all who met her as classy, caring, and feisty — a woman of independence, resilience, and humor who lived on her own and drove until the age of 95. She was deeply devoted to her family and proud of the generations she helped nurture.

She is survived by her children, Robert Zimmerman and his wife Barbara, and Susan Sacks and her husband Fred; her grandchildren Cory Zimmerman, Arielle Zimmerman, Jeff Sacks, and Evan Sacks; and her great-grandchildren Aaron, Emma, Jordan, Ryan, Finley, and Louisa.

A private family service will be held in her memory. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Adele’s honor.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that her adventurous spirit, warmth, and strength will live on in all who knew and loved her.
