NEWTOWN, PA… Dorothy Tankel, 100, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 at Pennswood Village while watching CNN.
Dorothy was born in New York City and grew up in Hamilton Township, NJ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, David Tankel.
There is not adequate room to describe the awesomeness of Dottie. First and foremost, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was great at games and was a skilled poker player and an avid bridge player and mahjong player. Two weeks ago, she had her first ride in a pickup truck. This weekend, she was planning on taking a ride around the grounds at Pennswood while riding in the bed of the truck. She had a keen and curious mind. She graduated from the college prep track of Hamilton High School at the age of 16 and her great intellect never diminished. She still had auburn hair. She was fiercely interested in politics and a lifelong Democrat. She will be sad to miss the outcome of Mueller’s investigation of the Trump administration.
Dottie is survived by her son, Kenneth, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, and two grandsons, Eric and Ethan, her sister, Julie, and dear friends, Betty, Rhoda, Amelia, Thelma, Lonnie, and all of her friends at Pennswood Village.
The family thanks Pennswood Village for making Dottie and Dave’s last decade happy and fulfilling.
Private funeral services and burial were held Tuesday, August 28 at Ewing Cemetery.
