Joel D. Moore, of Ringoes, NJ passed away suddenly on Monday, September 30, 2024 with his wife Pamela and dear friends by his side.
Joel was born on March 5, 1954 . He was predeceased by his parents Rose and Harry Moore. Joel is survived by his beloved family – wife Pamela (nee Dispoto), sister Linda Moore and her sons Harrison and Jonathan Kirkland, brother in law Anthony Dispoto and his wife Martha, niece Morgan Dispoto and Christopher Lacher, nephew and Godson Anthony James Dispoto and his wife Tammy, sister in law Denise Lenzo and her husband Jimmy, nephews James Lenzo and his wife Lauren, Nicholas Lenzo and his wife Rachel, great niece Savannah and great nephews Wyatt and Grant Lenzo.
Joel loved and participated in all sports in his youth and was a talented basketball player for Fair Lawn High School in NJ. He was recruited by several universities to play basketball but chose Quinnipiac College where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and met his wife Pamela. Married in 1978, they celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary last week. They enjoyed many years together working side by side, spending time with family and friends, hiking the National Parks in the United States and Canada, playing golf and enjoying Lake Keowee in SC.
After graduating college Joel gained experience in his field before establishing his own accounting firm, J.D. Moore and Company, in Skillman, New Jersey in 1983. In 1998 while still devoting himself full time to the clients of his accounting firm, he embarked on his dream of a lifetime – to create a private golf only club with a championship golf course designed by Tom Fazio and an Adirondak Style Clubhouse. In 2002 he fulfilled this dream with the opening of The Ridge at Back Brook in Ringoes, New Jersey. Joel’s attention to detail was second to none. He was a perfectionist, which is reflected in the masterpiece he has created. His business acumen, intelligence and tenacity combined with his passion for the game of golf resulted in the development of a Golf Club that has been repeatedly been recognized not only regionally but nationally as well.
Joel’s leadership and mentorship is reflected in the quality of the team of professionals that he has assembled, whom he called family. He was innovative and never hesitated to tackle the next challenge.
He was active in the New Jersey Golf Course Owners Association for over two decades and received the Paul Porter Award from the National Golf Course Owners Association for leaving an enduring mark on the golf industry through the highest level of commitment, service and leadership. Joel has made a significant impact on the golf community with the NJ Professional Golf Association, NJ State Golf Association, Golf Association of Philadelphia, American Junior Golf Association, International Junior Golf Tour and Hurricane Junior Golf Tour events being held at The Ridge at Back Brook. He is highly respected by various professionals with whom he has worked within the industry, his colleagues and his Team. And again, along the way the business relationship blossomed into friendship.
Joel Moore was larger than life – an energetic and charismatic man with a big heart and a generous spirit. He gave of himself freely despite the demands of his professions. He always had time for a chat, a question, a discussion about his favorite professional sports teams or to cheer on Ridge Members during club tournaments. His laugh was infectious and he loved to see others smile and enjoy themselves.
Funeral services are Sunday, October 6, at 2:00 pm at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ. The family will greet guests from 1:30 pm until the time of the service.
Private Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Hopewell, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are respectfully requested to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Pam and family
So sorry for Joel’s sudden passing.
Praying for your comfort and the Lords peace at this time. Pray the Lord found favor on his soul and they he is in a better place now .
Pam, my deepest condolences for the loss of this wonderful man, who we all admired and loved. We first met as kids at Lyncrest elementary school in Fair Lawn. Even then he was the guy with a little swagger tempered with good humor and kindness —. . We loved seeing him at our 50th high school reunion and thought there would be many more to come.
Pam,
I have always enjoyed playing the Ridge at Backbrook and have been grateful for the opportunity to play there through our Section events! My sincere condolences to you and your family🙏🏻 Thank you Mr. Moore…rest in peace!
Sincerely,
John McCarthy, PGA
Pam,
My heart aches for you. Joel’s passing was so sudden and shocking, especially given his wonderful larger than life personality. We wish we had more time with him. Our prayers are with you and your family.
Pam
No words can heal the loss you grieve, losing that part of you. Joel and I played as children in his back yard for hours exploring. He was my connection between his Jewish faith and mine. So I say again what he taught me :
“Baruch atah A-donay, Elo-heinu Melech Ha’Olam borei pri hagafen.”
Rest in peace my friend and may you look down on your loved ones guiding them through life’s difficulties.
Pam,
Sarah and I were very saddened to hear this news. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Rest in Peace Joel, a life well lived.
Dear Pam and family
May pleasant memories sustain you at this time of loss .
I always felt welcomed as a guest at the Ridge ⛳️
Sincerely Dave Rehrer
I am so sorry to hear of Joel’s passing, I had the privilege of working with Joel on a marketing project for the Ridge, and although we didn’t know each other well, you could tell that he was full of life and love. Our prayers are with Pam and the family.
