Ina Williams
1947 – 2024
Ina Williams, of Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024, at the age of 77.
Born Ina Wilner, in 1947 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to John and Marion Wilner, Ina let her love of the theatre guide her way. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 1970 with a degree in Speech and Theatre Arts. After working in various media and advertising roles, she found her true passion directing plays and musicals for the Washington Crossing Open Air Theater in Titusville, New Jersey.
Ina moved to Spring, Texas in 1977, where she raised her two daughters, her one-of-a-kind Cairn Terrier, Buffy, and began her multi-decade career as a public-school teacher in the Klein Independent School District. Ina was the always-devoted mother and friend who could be found chaperoning school activities, decorating dance costumes, and helping neighbors. And Ina was always up for an adventure. After she retired from teaching, she spent her time traveling around the country and the world – cherishing her visits with her children, granddaughter, and grand-dogs the most.
Ina is survived by her two daughters, Caren (Kevin Vaarsi) and Jenifer (Kevin Freiburger), and her beloved granddaughter Eden. She is also survived by her two sisters, Lois and Wendy, and many nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Har Sinai Temple in Pennington, New Jersey. Burial is private at Ewing Cemetery.
To honor Ina’s love for animals, the family requests any memorial contributions be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind or the Houston Zoo.
Funeral arrangements are by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel. For Condolences please visit: OrlandsMemorialChapel.com/ina-williams
I will always remember Aunt Ina for my start in Show Business in Annie Get Your Gun! She always had the best sense of humor and the best laugh. No matter what she was going through, she always had a laugh with me. I am glad she is at peace. I will miss her. Much Love
