Richard Glazer

Richard M. Glazer passed away in Boca Raton, Florida on May 27, 2023, at the age of 85.  He was born on June 12, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Lower Makefield Township, Pennsylvania when he was six months old.

Rick attended the Lawrenceville School, Yale University, and Harvard Law School. Upon graduation from law school, Rick served as law clerk to U.S. District Court Judge Arthur S. Lane in Trenton and then for several years worked as an attorney at Kahn, Schildkraut & Levy before later joining his father in their family business.

Rick was a member of Har Sinai Temple in Trenton where he had been active as a teen in both Har Sinai Temple Youth and the National Federation of Temple Youth.  He was a member of Adath Israel Congregation in Lawrenceville from 1976 until the late 1990s.

Perhaps Rick’s greatest love in life was volunteering in the local Jewish community where he distinguished himself for well over 50 years.  He served on the Federation Board of Directors for 25 years between 1965 and 1990, as Treasurer from 1973 to 1974, and as President from 1974 to 1977.  He was also involved with authoring three revisions of the Federation’s bylaws.

Rick was elected as a Trustee of the Jewish Community Foundation in 1976.  Beginning in 1983 he served continuously as Foundation Secretary except for the two years (1992-94) when he held the office of President.  He left the Board several years ago when he was made an Honorary Trustee of the organization. Rick was always fond of saying that he learned his deep involvement in Jewish communal activities from his parents, Henry and Geralyn, while sitting around the family’s dining room table over dinner.

Rick also thoroughly enjoyed his hobby of photography.  At many local social gatherings both large and small, Rick volunteered his services and served as the de facto photographer at Jewish community social events. His photographic works were legendary.

He had a deep love for Broadway musicals and the music of Cole Porter and would frequently break out in song with many of his favorite show tunes that he knew by memory.

Rick was predeceased by his first wife, Susan (Mandel) Glazer and his second wife, Elaine Mostow Kaplan.  He is survived by his brother, Jeff Glazer of Bluffton, South Carolina and a nephew, Brian Glazer of Washington, DC.

Funeral services are 11:00 am on Monday, June 5, at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton Township, NJ.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Federation of Princeton Mercer Bucks, 213 Carnegie Center, PO Box 2157, Princeton, NJ 08543 or a charity of your choice.
