Stanley Abrams
On Wednesday, November 16th, 2022, Stanley Abrams, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He was 88.
Stanley is survived by his one true love, his wife of over 63 years, Zillie, his son Murray (Suzanne), Sheldon (Debbie), Liane Vogel (Mitch), Samantha Gilmore (Eddie) and his grandchildren, Danielle (Sam), Alexa (Vinny), Natalie, Justin, Lindsay, Ethan, Spencer, Adam, Addison, Tyler, Ashlyn, Grant, Sami and Joey.
Born to Janie and Nathan Abrams in Johannesburg, South Africa, Stanley graduated from Wits University and practiced as an attorney before deciding that he would move his family to the United States. It was not easy to go directly to the US and in 1977 Stanley changed careers so that he could move his family to London. In 1980 Stanley became the executive director for B’nai B’rith Eastern District in the US. He then packed the family up again and headed to the US. In this country, he found all that he expected and more.
While Stanley had many passions, his greatest was for his love, Zillie. Together they loved to travel. With over 40 countries visited, his favorite place was Paris. Trips were planned in advance and they seemed to be always packing for another adventure. Stanley’s passion for learning led him to audit classes at Princeton University – the students loved him as he knew all of the answers. An absolute brilliant mind that was full of facts, stories from his life and tons of jokes that we will all hold dear and repeat for generations to come.
His passion for golf took him across the US and Europe where he played with great joy, no matter his score. Stanley did not worry how well he played – he felt the scorecard never reflected the actual score.
While our hearts are heavy with his passing, we honor him as he lived his life to the fullest. May we all follow his example.
A life well spent will never be forgotten by anyone.
Funeral services are 12:00 noon on Friday, November 18 at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ. Interment is private.
So sorry to hear of Stanley’s passing.
Our sincere sympathies to the entire Family.
Remember the good times!!
