Ruth Clayman

1929 – 2022


Ruth Clayman, of Ewing Township, NJ passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022. She was 92.

She was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1929. In 1940, eleven-year-old Ruth was taken to the Auschwitz concentration camp where she remained until The Liberation in 1945. She survived along with two of her sisters, traveling first to a displacement camp in Munich, and then to Paris where she lived with a cousin.

Ruth immigrated to the United States in 1951. In 1953 she married Martin Clayman, also an immigrant from Poland. They moved to Trenton and have been Trenton area residents for the past 70 years.

Ruth loved knitting and gardening. She was a lifetime member of Hadasa and was a member of Adath Israel Congregation in Lawrenceville.

Mother of the late Yvette Clayman, Ruth is survived by her husband, Martin Clayman, and a nephew, Edward Zelinka.

Funeral services and burial are 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 29 at the People of Truth Cemetery, 1001 Cedar Lane (Corner of Cedar Lane and Ridge Avenue), Hamilton Township, NJ.
