Phyllis Green, 89, of Boca Raton, Florida,  passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Phyllis was born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1932, to Ethel and Morris Miller and was the middle child of three daughters. Like a true middle child Phyllis was innovative and self motivated. Phyllis grew up in Newark, graduated early from Weequahic High School and started Skidmore College at 16. Phyllis  then began a career in advertising which spanned over 60 years.

Phyllis started  at a small radio station in Trenton, then to a TV station in Miami, ABC in Indianapolis,NBC in Boston, and ABC in New York.  In 1986, when others might have considered slowing down, Phyllis opened Green  Advertising in south Florida.  In 1999, Green Advertising was acquired by WPP and Phyllis became Chairperson of GreenAd.com until her retirement in 2017.

When Phyllis wasn’t working, well, she was still working.  Phyllis was a member of the Executive Women of Palm Beaches, Boca Executive Club and a Boca Museum Trustee. In  2014 Phyllis published her business memoir, Fired at 50: A Survivors Guide to Prosperity. In her book she recounted her exciting and amazing career which included interviewing and meeting athletes, movie stars and politicians.

Like a true middle child Phyllis also maintained loyal, passionate and strong relationships with her many friends and family . Phyllis loved watching and discussing just about any sport, loved the Miami Dolphins, loved to ski, loved to travel, was an avid golfer (with a ready golf tip for her family) and always got the best seat whether it be shows, restaurants or airplanes.   Phyllis cherished her time with her family and friends.

Phyllis is survived by her sister Judy Wachs, her son Steven Harris, daughter Suzy Verchick, son in law Glenn, her incredible grand children, Julianne Harris (Matt Cohen) , Devon Kaufman (Jason), David Verchick, Benjamin  Verchick (Megan ), loving nieces and nephews, Howard Krichman, Kenny Krichman,  Brinda Wachs, Kelly Wachs, Gregory Wachs (Shula ) and Joe Wachs (Sussan ). Phyllis was predeceased by her son Robert (Bob) Harris (survived by his partner Randy Baum) and her sister Alma Krichman. The family wants to especially acknowledge Grace White who was an indispensable help and companion.

Funeral services are 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 1 at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ. Burial will follow in Ewing Cemetery.

There will also be a a celebration of Phyllis’s life, for her family and friends, in Boca Raton later in December.  For more information please email glennvlaw@comcast.net
