Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Marion Plaxen Roemer, of Princeton, NJ, passed away of natural causes at Preferred Care at Mercer in Ewing, NJ, on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at the age of 85.
Born in Far Rockaway, New York, Marion was a long-time resident of Princeton for 57 years. She graduated from Queens College, City University of New York, and taught nursery school in Lawrenceville, NJ, for a few years while raising her children. She was a lifetime member of Hadassah, and was active in The Artisan’s Guild of Princeton, the American Brain Tumor
Association (Philadelphia chapter), and other local organizations. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and was a member of the PTA of the Princeton Regional Schools. She loved her family and friends, the arts, as well as her love for the opera and live theater. She was an avid crossword puzzle solver and competed and placed in national tournaments. Her
family endearingly called her “the Latin dilettante.”
Marion was predeceased by her husband Dr. Jack L. Roemer and her son Philip B. Roemer. She is survived by her son Jonathan (Grace) Roemer of Princeton, two daughters, Michelle Roemer (Glenn) Schoen of Doylestown, PA, and Shari (John) Pflueger of Austin, TX, her brother Barry Plaxen of Bloomingburg, NY, six grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are private. Burial will be in the Princeton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and McCarter Theatre.
You were always fun to be around and your love of your family was deep and unending.
You have passed down a legacy for a love of the arts and compassion for all people.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Marion. She was always such a light to be around. She lived a long life full of love as I have been able to witness personally throughout the years at family gatherings. I remember Mrs. Roemer driving us the girl scouts around to our different activities in her station wagon. She was always loving and kind. She inspired me to be a life long volunteer…to meet needs where I see them, to appreciate people with different abilities and to show and give compassion freely. To my dear old friend Michelle my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

To my friend Michelle. Loosing a mom isn’t easy. It’s been nearly 12 years since Mama passed and I still miss her. Moms are the foundation of our families and their love can never be replaced. Their caring nature and warm spirit live within us and in the hearts of our kids.

I can still hear her voice- soft and caring. Marion was a dear and valuable friend to my mother for over 45 years. Every moment with her you knew you were in the presence of kindness and humor. Sending all my love

Only Marion knew what I was up to when I was late to her daughter’s, and omg my best girl friend’s wedding!
Oh, what’s a roll in the hay? Right?
She clasped her hands on my face and said, “I love you”.
That’s my Marion.
She knew….
And so did I.
Marion was my mom that day.
I’ll never forget her kindness, her love, her joy.

My condolences to the family from an old friend of Marion and Barry’s from Far Rockaway. Her parents, Rose and Jesse were dear friends of my parents. So sad, but she lived a good and productive life, as one should.
