Lawrenceville… Harvey A. Silk, 91, passed away at the Meadows in Lawrenceville on Monday, November 25, 2019.
Born in Trenton, Harvey was a resident of Lawrenceville for more than sixty years. He was a graduate of the Hamilton Township school system. He obtained his B.S. from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. Before retiring in 1992, Harvey was the proprietor of Silk’s Pharmacy, originally founded by his father and mother, Jacob and Anna Silk. In retirement, Harvey loved attending lectures, gardening, swimming and reading history.
Harvey was a past president of the Mercer County Pharmaceutical Society and a member of Har Sinai Temple and Cobblestone Creek Country Club. Harvey was drafted into the army during the Korean War and served in Frankfurt, Germany as a hospital pharmacist.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie Barish Silk, daughter and son-in-law Sally Silk and Thomas Wolfe, son Michael Silk, sister Doris Kramer, granddaughters Julia Silk Wolfe (Jason Eckmann) and Madeleine Silk Wolfe, sister-in-law Evelyn Warren, and several nieces and nephews. Harvey will be remembered for his kind and generous heart, and his boundless love for his family. He will be forever missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services are Friday 10:30 a.m. (November 29) at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing Township, NJ. Burial will follow at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park. Luncheon and prayers will follow the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Harvey’s name to Har Sinai Temple or Greenwood House.
