Traditional burial services vary by level of observance and culture. We are sensitive to the cultural and religious needs of various groups in the Princeton Mercer Bucks area and the greater tri-state area. We will assist with arrangements with a mind towards ensuring that the service incorporates the preferences and traditions of your family.
We work with all local cemeteries throughout New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania and can coordinate burials at cemeteries worldwide. Prior to the burial, families may choose from a number of services, including a funeral, memorial service, visitation or graveside service. The descriptions below elaborate on the traditional options families may consider.
Funeral Chapel
A service at our funeral chapel involves a ceremony at our facility, which has private parking for 80 cars and seating for 200 people. The funeral procession will then embark for the cemetery. A short committal service will take place before the burial.
House of Worship
Most congregations will host the funeral of a congregant or immediate family member of a congregant. In these cases, the casket will be brought into the building for a service, and then the processions will travel to the cemetery where the committal service will take place before the burial.
Graveside
At this kind of service the mourners meet directly at the cemetery and the entire funeral service takes place at the grave. A few seats are usually provided by the cemetery for the family or others who have difficulty standing. Open-air tents are often available to cover the area surrounding the grave to shield from inclement weather. This type of service is usually brief compared to other services because they take place entirely outside in the elements. Taking the weather and the comfort of elderly or unwell mourners into account is an important consideration.
Memorial Service, A service that does not involve the physical presence of the deceased. The service can take place anywhere because there is no need to accommodate a casket: our funeral chapel, a religious venue, private home, club house or favorite restaurant.
Immediate Burial
This option does not involve any ceremony, religious or otherwise. It is an option for those who want to have a simple burial within 48 hours of the time of death. We will work with families to accommodate them as best as possible, but scheduling is at the discretion of our funeral directors.
