EAST WINDSOR… Sandra Finkelstein, 74, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017.
Born in Brooklyn to parents Abraham and Rebecca Arello, she was a resident of East Windsor for 44 years. She danced tap and ballet in her childhood, and went on to earn a BA and MA from Brooklyn College.
As a child she was a tomboy. As she grew older she was known for taking in strays of all kinds, including people.
Ms. Finkelstein was a nursery school teacher at the Trenton Hebrew Academy and at the Hebrew school at Congregation Beth Chaim. She later taught at Allentown High School for a year, and then Hightstown High School, where she taught for nearly 30 years. She was involved in one act plays, sights and sounds, and drama club. She was also known to tutor her weak students: her door was always open. She will be missed by her family, friends, and past students.
Ms. Finkelstein is survived by a daughter, Dr. Ariana Finkelstein of Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Funeral services are Thursday 11am March 16th, at Congregation Beth Chaim, 329 Village Road East, West Windsor. Burial will follow at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY.
